LOUDONVILLE — The injury-depleted Siena women’s basketball team got some roster relief on Monday when head coach Terry Primm announced the addition of 6-foot-2 freshman Peppi Lohko from Lahti, Finland.
Lohko is immediately eligible and has four years of NCAA eligibility.
“I am thrilled about adding Peppi to the Siena sisterhood,” Primm said in a release. “She comes from a great program [HBA in Finland] and has been coached very well. It will be a joy to continue her versatility on offense and defense. She is a high-character young lady who fits our culture and positionless basketball philosophy.”
Lohko brings youth national playing experience to the Saints, having achieved both silver and bronze medals in the U19 Finnish Championship. She was also a member of the Finland U16, U18, and U20 national teams.
“She understands how passionate we are about Siena and wants to play a significant role in helping us build a championship program,” Primm said. “Again, I am thrilled she decided to come to us, and I cannot wait to see her blossom on and off the court.”
Throughout her youth career, Lohko averaged a double-double per game, 12.6 points and 11.6 rebounds. In 2023, she posted national-team career highs while on the Finland U18 team, with 7.4 PPG, 3.9 PPG, and 1.1 APG over seven outings.
Siena’s preseason All-MAAC first-teamer Teresa Seppala is also from Finland, and missed the first three games of this season while playing for the Finnish national team in some qualifying games for FIBA Women’s Eurobasket 2025.
The Saints, whose next game is at 11 a.m. on Thursday at home against Quinnipiac, suffered several long-term injuries to key players before the season started.
