DJI’s much-anticipated Flip drone is causing a buzz, with fresh leaks revealing key pricing details and positioning in DJI’s expansive drone lineup.
According to the latest leaks, DJI Flip will debut in Europe at a starting price of €439 (~$460) in a “drone only” package. When bundled with the RC 2 remote controller, the price could go up to €639 (~$670), while the Fly More Combo with additional batteries and accessories could cost €779 (~800).
The Flip is rumored to launch across Europe and North America on January 14, 2025. There’s even speculation that DJI might reveal the drone at CES 2025 in Las Vegas ahead of its official release.
The Flip looks set to occupy a sweet spot in DJI’s product lineup, offering a compact, budget-friendly alternative to both the DJI Neo and Mini series. The Neo, with its price starting at just $199, is indoor-friendly, portable enough to launch from your palm, and easy to carry on any adventure. While the latest drone in the DJI Mini lineup, Mini 4 Pro, is priced much higher, but it justifies that by capturing stunning 4K HDR videos at 60fps, offering obstacle sensing in all directions, and a flight time of up to 34 minutes.

Meanwhile, leaked details provide some insight into the Flip’s features. The drone is said to include:
- 3,110mAh battery: Larger than the Mini 4 Pro’s 2,590mAh capacity, which could result in longer flight times.
- Lidar-powered obstacle avoidance: This feature enhances safety during both indoor and outdoor flights.
- OcuSync 4.0 (O4) transmission: Ensuring compatibility with DJI’s latest controllers, such as the RC 2 and RC-N2.
- Foldable, lightweight design: Aimed at providing portability, much like the Mini series.
While the camera specifications haven’t been confirmed, the Flip is expected to feature a stabilized gimbal for high-quality footage, offering improved performance compared to entry-level drones like the Neo but likely falling short of the Mini 4 Pro’s capabilities.
But as DJI continues to innovate, regulatory pressures in the US are affecting the availability of its products. Basically, now might be a great time to grab a Neo or even a Mini 3 Pro while stocks last!
